Yale Law Library Scan Request

If you need an article for more than 12 weeks, you should use interlibrary loan (ILL). Now that the spring semester begins, remember that the library offers an on-demand scanning service. Especially during shopping hours, the library is ready to digitize course readings for students. We have already scanned a few and are ready to go. Scan on Demand is a free electronic document delivery service that allows Yale Law School to electronically request and receive portions of books or journal articles from the library`s collections. Requests must be made directly from the item sheet in our catalog by simply clicking on the „Scan and deliver” button. The requested documents are scanned and delivered within 1-2 business days. The library currently has 4 multifunction devices that serve as photocopiers/printers/scanners (all paid machines) You are on: To request a book directly from our Morris catalogue, click on the button: MAIL IT TO ME. To submit a request from our Encore catalogue, click MORE RESOURCES, then MAIL ME. In addition to these services, Yale Law Library now offers a free on-demand scanning service. The requested documents will be scanned and delivered within 1-2 business days, but usually within a few hours of your request. Requests should be made directly from a single book or journal article entry in MORRIS under the More Resources button.

If you need a book from the Yale University Library`s Orbis catalog, you`ll need to take this approach because they don`t have a request button. Scan on Demand is a free electronic document delivery service that allows you to request chapters of books or journal articles from the library`s collections. The library will send books to your home (or wherever you need them) if you can`t make it to the library to pick up materials in person via our Deliver on Demand service. To request a book directly from our Morris catalogue, click on the button: SCAN AND DELIVER. To submit a request from our Encore catalog, click MORE RESOURCES, then ANALYZE AND DELIVER. In both cases, you will be asked to register and then directly redirected to a form where you will enter the required page numbers. If this is confusing, simply send the request to julian.aiken@yale.edu The library currently has four (5) free scanners in addition to the four (4) multifunction devices that allow paid scanning. U.S. copyright law (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions provided for by law, the Library and Archives have the right to provide a photocopy or reproduction.

One of these conditions is that photocopying or reproduction „may not be used for any purpose other than private study, science or research.” If a user subsequently requests or uses a photocopy or reproduction for purposes other than „fair dealing”, that user may be held liable for copyright infringement. Yale University Library reserves the right to refuse to accept a copy order if, in its sole discretion, fulfillment of the order would constitute copyright infringement.
